Monday marks the International and European Day against capital punishment, and on this occasion the French Cultural Center is hosting a number of activities; a documentary film screening, a reading of Victor Hugo’s “the Last Day of the Condemned Man”, and a talk by Jordanian human rights activist Suleiman Sweis.
This week the Royal Film Commission hosts Spanish Cinema Days, with screenings of recent and award-winning spanish feature films. Jordanian comedian Musa Hijazeen stars in a new play titled “I Understood You” (Ana Fhemtkom), showing every day except Monday at the Concord Cinema Theater.
Makan hosts the screening of a collection of experimental short films from the successful film festival Women’s Voices from the Muslim World portraying a spectrum of life experiences, and down the street at Darat al-Funun a new exhibition opens on Tuesday by Jordanian artist/architect Saba Ennab and Lebanese photographer Fouad Al-Khoury.
