Events in Amman, Jan 31 – Feb 6

الأحد 31 كانون الثاني 2010

Music is the highlight of this week in Amman – so many concerts and gigs taking place. A group of local artists and musicians put together an event titled “Exit to School” to support the children of Gaza, and saturday’s show features performances by al-Hannouneh group, Autostrad, Tareq Al-Jundi, Sahar Khalifeh, Arabic rappers Samm and Psycholas, and a new band led by Tareq Abu Kwaik called Al Morabba3. That’s definitely one concert you don’t want to miss.

Starting this week, Chapter 11 will be playing two weekly live jazz gigs instead of just one. So besides Tuesdays at Canvas, you can enjoy their live show every Friday at the newly opened Cafe de Paris in Jabal Luweibdeh.

There’s Soprano Nicole Taylor singing spiritual music in celebration of African-American history month. It’s also Wild Scotland Week in Amman, and it includes an exhibition, a fun talk about textile design, and a number of concerts. And of course, there’s plenty more, from exhibition openings, to theater, films, and talk. So read on… plan your week, and don’t forget: You can contribute to the Calendar.
